Overview
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has updated its Eligibility Enrollment processes effective mid-May. As part of this change, providers are now required to complete a provider attestation to access Medicare eligibility data via HETS (270/271 transactions).
CMS no longer accepts third-party enrollment submissions on behalf of providers. Attestation must be completed directly by the provider organization.
What This Means
- Each provider must attest for all applicable Group NPIs (Type 2) used for Medicare eligibility
- Attestation confirms the authorized relationship with your trading partner
- Must be completed by a PECOS-enrolled authorized or delegated official
- This is now the required and fastest path to enable or maintain eligibility access
Required Information
Prepare the following before starting:
- Group NPI(s) (Type 2)
- PTAN(s) (Provider Transaction Access Number)
- Trading Partner Details
- Sohar Health Trading Partner ID: M73T
- Authorized Signer Information
- Effective Date of Relationship (you may use today’s date)
Key Notes
- Required for each Tax ID (EIN) + Group NPI (Type 2) combination
- Rendering NPIs (individual) are not included
- Only required once per Tax ID/NPI combination, even across multiple states
